The Bible says yes, we are made to worship.  No one has taught me how to worship or no one taught you how to worship, I just know how to worship.  I know how to, “Oh wow, did you see that shot by Dirk?”

We’re passionate people, that’s good.  Could it be, though, that some of us have misplaced our passion?  I remember years ago I went to see U2, acting like maniacs at U2.  And the next morning I had to go to Sunday school or church and they act like mannequins.

Could it be that we’re wasting our worship? Real worship, yes it’s passion, but is basically our response to God’s identity – who he is – his activity – what he does – expressed by what we say and what we do. That’s worship. Worship is not manufactured, worship is intrinsic. Everybody worships. No one taught me how to worship and no one taught you how to worship, we just worship. Worship is not complacent, it’s competitive.

 There is a battle over worship. Worship is not about me, it’s about God.  So often when we come to church we just order a BLT.  Bless me.  Love me.  Take care of me.  God is there for meeeeee! You don’t come to Fellowship Church to worship, you come worshiping.  Worship is not compartmentalized.  It’s transcendent.  Worship transcends everything that we are about.  Everybody worships, everybody does! But are they pursuing the right thing in their worship?

Woman 1: I’ve never had so much knowledge pushed into my brain in such a short amount of time.

Ed: Why did we start C3?  I’ll tell you why.  To give people handles.  To talk about life in the raw and the real.

Man 1: When we honor the Lord, God Almighty with praise, with confession, however we express it, that’s our heritage!  Teach, proclaim, worship.

Ed:  Creativity happens out of the context of order.  You don’t create your way into order.  You’ve got order, then you have creativity!

Man 2:  We are here for one reason, and that is to expand God’s kingdom. Nothing else, not just to have church gatherings of church peoples.

Man 3: We have a credible faith.  We have a faith that has good answers to the toughest questions of life.

Man 4:  But we are fellow members in God’s household!  We belong to God!  We are somebody!

Man 5: Quit defending your fear and start defending your faith.

Man 6: We can go into the promised land!  We can defeat the giants!  We can be all that God has called us to be!

Woman 2:  If young people just take a break before making big, rush, rash decisions in their lives, things can be a lot different.

Man 7:  If you are religious you won’t reach anybody but religious people.

Ed:  That is brilliant.

Man 8:  There is only here and now and the presence of God.  It’s right now!

Man 9:  Jesus didn’t die for correct doctrine.  Jesus died for people! 

Man 10:  We’re looking for a move of God.  And let me tell you what God is looking for.  God is looking for a move of man! 

Man 11:  We don’t fight for victory, we fight FROM victory!

Man 12:  If everybody’s against you, realize that God is for you and worship through it!  God didn’t call you to barely get by!  God didn’t call you just to get enough!  God calls you to more than enough. 

Man 13:  But the word of the Lord never returns void.  It accomplishes what he sent it forth to do.  You’re doing better than you think you are!

Man 14:  We’re gonna bring the relevance in with the revival!  We’re gonna have a revolutionary move of God!  And you know who’s gonna do it?  We are!  We are the church!  We are the church!

Have A Spouse Centric Relationship!  The most important earthly relationship you have is with your spouse. Husbands, put your wife first. Wives, put your husband first. Yes, even above the kids. Because remember…kids leave and spouses stay!

Have Regular Date Night/Mate Nights When you have a regular time that you can get away as a couple, even for a few hours, it’s like an oasis in the middle of the desert!

Remember Special Occasions And Keep Them Holy Throughout Scripture, God challenges his people to remember what he has done for them. Remember those times in your marriage that are special to you…and celebrate them together!

Speak About Your Spouse With Words Of Honor! Proverbs 25:11, “A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.”

Install A Purification System Set ground rules and guardrails that ensure you won’t go over the edge and the ledge of compromise. For example, Lisa and I have developed our own “10 Commandments of Purity”. Write yours out together and commit to keeping your marriage pure.

Satisfy Your Spouse Sexually The Bible challenges us to satisfy our spouses regularly, not to neglect them (1 Corinthians 7:5). Be intentional about meeting your spouse’s sexual needs. Marriage should be a needs-meeting contest!

Crash Through Quitting Points – Every marriage has those times when you want to quit. But don’t base your marriage on feelings. Commit your way…see your covenant to your spouse the way God sees it. And break through  those quitting points to discover greatness on the other side!

Husbands, what you do determines the trajectory your marriage takes. So don’t just sit on the sidelines the rest of this week and think sex is just going to happen. Because if you do, it probably won’t!

Be creative in how you pursue your wife! To help you out, here are just a few things you can do to set the tone…

• HIRE/BE THE MAID – A clean house (that she didn’t have to clean) is a perfect stage for the Sexperiment!
• MAKE HER DINNER (and not just takeout) – Find her favorite recipe and actually take the time to cook. The kitchen can be one of most romantic rooms in your house!
• LEAVE HER NOTES – Hide cards, letters and notes around the house, in her car, at her office. A spontaneous note will keep her thinking about you all day!
• BUY HER FLOWERS/SWEETS – Yes, they sell these even when it isn’t Valentine’s Day!

We have written a devotion online for every single and every married couple here, for seven days… starting next Tuesday.  Next Tuesday is the Worldwide Marriage Week.  Did you know that?  From Tuesday until Tuesday.  From this Tuesday, culminating with Valentine’s Day is the Worldwide Marriage Week.  So we’re gonna start the Sexperiment (how cool is that?) Tuesday. 

Now it’s not a contest… “OK, we made 7 out of 7…”  I mean, the first time we did the Sexperiment, I hate to admit this, but on day 6 I was just too tired.  And Lisa woke me up and she goes,

“Ed!  Remember we’ve got the Sexperiment!”  I said,

“I’m too tired.  I’m too tired.”  That’s OK.  It’s not about scorekeeping.  It is, though, about seeing what God wants us to do in marriage and also if you’re single.  And I gotta borrow somebody’s glasses.  I can’t, man, I’m having some trouble with my eyes.  You got something I can see up close?  Thank you, Renee.  Thank you, Renee.  Those are cool!  All right.

I went to the eye doctor this week and he said I needed to… my IQ just kicked up about 25 pounds.  All right.  This is sexual chocolate.  Boy, you sound excited. “Sexual chocolate.” 

The first one is, check this out.  Priority.  What’s the priority in marriage?  The marriage.  What’s the priority in family?  The marriage.  What’s the priority with kids?  The marriage.  Marriage first, kids second.  I would give my life for our four kids, but if you want to be a great parent, one of the great things is put the priority on your marriage. 

Unity.  That’s what it’s about.  Two become one.  In the act of sex you don’t know where one body ends and the other begins.  Unity.  God, the Father, God, the Son, God, the Holy Spirit.  Three in one, one in three. 

Legacy.  You want to leave a legacy to launch kids with great trajectory?  Marriages?  Family?  Boom.  Sexual chocolate.  Oh, you’re fired up now!

Loyalty.  Oh somebody help me with loyalty. Is that great?  Loyalty. We’ve forgotten how to be loyal.  Man, loyalty, loyalty.  I’m loyal to ya, baby!  Come Hell or high water!

Divinity.  It’s all about God.  Sex started in Heaven.

Creativity!  We’re all creative geniuses.  Let’s bring creativity to the marriage.  People say, “Oh, I want romance.  I want romance.”  That’s creativity.  That’s what romance is.

Finally, purity.  The marriage bed should be undefiled.  Even if you have… again.  Here’s the great thing about God.  Even if you have slept in this, even if you could litter the stage with doggie beds, litter the stage with them!  Guess what?  God will reboot, delete, restore, and change your life. I’m not saying, though, that you’re not gonna still have some of the consequences.  You know that from the life of David.  But I am saying, based on God’s word and what I’ve seen and know in my own life, I’m telling you greatness will be the result.

C3 2012 is just days away. And as thousands of leaders from around the world are preparing for all that God will do here, the anticipation is continuing to grow!
