It all started with a smiley face. And now, my close friend and fellow pastor, John Cross, is getting married.
Over the last several years, my family has grown extremely close to John. And as our friendship has strengthened, I've prayed that God would provide him with someone who would be more than a friend, a confidant, a helper in ministry. Lisa and I have prayed for him to find a wife. We even went as far as setting him up on a few blind dates!
But, as with everything else in life, God's timing is what really matters. And, as John says, God has provided "more than I would have prayed for." And, "It's worth it when you wait on God."
Congratulations, John and Dawn!

Good for them. I've been hearing a lot of people say that they are waiting for the person God would give them.. But in the end, they choose what they prefer.. They take full control and God did not have the chance to give them the best..
You will be an inspiration for many :-)

Marriage is awesome and waiting to find a great spouse is better, but always remember that God's plan for marriage is to take you to depths that go beyond your ability to love, give grace and to care for another. The difference has to be made up by Him. Marriage was designed to always point us back to the One who would love us most! Enjoy the journey!

I agree with this. I am experiencing the blessing and reward for waiting. My whole life I have been in horrible relationships. You name it, it has happened to me. It has been hard, and I struggled to understand why I couldn't find someone that I could share my life with. I believe that everything happens in God's time. I wasn't ready..I had to deal with myself first. I joined Fellowship in April, and since then my life has taken a dramatically different path. I discovered some harsh things about myself, but I learned from them. Now God has put a wonderful man in my life that truly loves me and my daughter. Everyday that passes, I feel a deeper connection with God and this man. My eyes and heart were opened, and it is at that time that I was able to accept God's blessing.

Thanks for sharing the link to this moving story. It gives me hope for the future of me and my children! What a beautiful thing to see God restore a family that was once so broken and bless a man with the wife he prayed for.

Ed, I am a lifelong member of Second Baptist in Houston... You know about them!? ; ) Anyway, my wife and I met with a "smiley face"... online! A Christian dating website lead me and Hailey together a lil over a year ago and here we are about 6 months into marriage. As you say, patience and waiting on God... it truly pays off! She compliments me daily and vice versa... It is no wonder how prior relationships fail once you finally surrender and truly alow God to be at the forefront of a dating relationship and now a marriage.

We put our first marriages together and found we were unequally yoked. No matter how hard we tried they didn't work, the task of keeping the marriage together became an all consuming task. We are both divorced from our first marriages via our partner's choice. We were over it... but God had other ideas and put us together. We have given a powerful ministry now. Together we are consumed in His work as we are equally yoked. What God has put together let no man take apart.
