The tongue is a powerful thing. It has the ability to build up or tear down; it can heal or destroy; it can deliver words of life or words of destruction.
This past weekend I talked about a guy who used his tongue to destroy. But in response to that slander, David wrote the following words. Read them. Pray about them. And consider how you use your tongue when you talk about others.
Psalm 52
Why do you boast of evil, you mighty man? Why do you boast all day long, you who are a disgrace in the eyes of God?
Your tongue plots destruction; it is like a sharpened razor, you who practice deceit.
You love evil rather than good, falsehood rather than speaking the truth. Selah
You love every harmful word, O you deceitful tongue!
Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin: He will snatch you up and tear you from your tent; he will uproot you from the land of the living. Selah
The righteous will see and fear; they will laugh at him, saying,
"Here now is the man who did not make God his stronghold but trusted in his great wealth and grew strong by destroying others!"
But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God's unfailing love for ever and ever.
I will praise you forever for what you have done; in your name I will hope, for your name is good. I will praise you in the presence of your saints.

Thanks for the words Ed. I'm new to your blog, but am looking forward to reading your thoughts.

Yes, the tongue can hurt you or help you!. It's amazing how sometimes I talk to the people close to me in sometimes a negative way, but a complete stranger, I am more helpful and nice. Thank God for His Grace.
Thanks for the sharing, sometimes we all need a reality check.

We love you pastor! we started coming to Fellowship in March of 07 when we moved from El Paso to Dallas. We thought we wold have a hard time liking a church as much as we did ours back home, Abundant Living Faith Center, but boy did God have some better plans for us here. We are just in AWE of what God does through you and this church. We are now involved and leading a change group through our Downtown campus and I'm so thankful to GOD for bringing us to FC. The conference was just awesome! Lets get the arena next year, we sat in the overflow and wished we hadn't, but it was still great!

We love your television ministry. It's great for my younger children. We are using our gift to minister on-line to peeps who may otherwise not walk into a church. They've been hurt by the church, but still love God. The Lord has opened a great avenue for this type of ministry for us. We've made connections all over the world, from our living room. HE spoke it, we moved in obedience and the fruit continues to pour in. THANKS FOR WHAT YOU DO FOR THE KINGDOM!

Ed,
I just wanted to say thank you for Fellowship Church and thank you for your wisdom and words. My husband and I began attending as guests in 2004 and we joined a year later. Thank for making the bible exciting! It is because of you and your sermons that in Jan. 2006 I renewed my relationship with god and was baptized again! We Love Fellowship Church!
