Today marks exactly one year since American hero and Navy SEAL Chris Kyle was killed. As so many in our world reflect on Chris’ life, I think back to when we had the honor and privilege of hosting him about a year and a half ago here at Fellowship Church.
The words he shared that day showed the power and potential of a relationship with Christ – and how it can lead to a legacy far beyond any life! Take a look at this true hero, and listen to the words he shares…
At Fellowship Church, we just wrapped up our series, “Hecknology“. It was a phenomenal series that resonates with everyone, because in today’s social media-driven society we all have an opportunity to share our thoughts with the world. Technology has given us the platform to say anything, any time, anywhere. But technology does something else.
Technology is a giant mirror that reflects who we are to the world.
I think the mirror of technology is more telling than any mirror that we look into. Technology exacerbates who we are. It shows the good, the bad, the ugly like nothing we’ve ever seen before. We go online. We text. We Tweet. We e-mail. We log onto different web sites and chat rooms, and we post all of these pictures on Instagram. And so often, people say things online that they would never, ever say to someone’s face. It’s so telling about your life and mine.
It’s easy to focus on the ‘me’ in social media. We think we have the freedom to say whatever we want, about whoever we want. But I want to challenge you to consider what you are posting. Before you post another Tweet, Facebook post, or Instagram picture, ask yourself these questions…
Remember, who you are when no one’s looking is who you really are. And in today’s world of technology, someone is always looking!
This weekend, we’re kicking off a series at Fellowship Church that EVERYONE can relate to. In our world today, we have a love/hate relationship with technology. On one hand, it keeps us connected like never before. But are there dangers in being constantly connected, never unplugged?
Make sure you are at one of our many locations this weekend as we ask these questions…and help us all learn the ups and downs, highs and lows of technology! Don’t let technology become wrecknology in your life!
