Last week I had the opportunity to travel Down Under and speak at the intergalactic Hillsong Conference! Here's a little of what I saw and did.
Doctors say you should get up and move every 2 hours or so...that meant a lot of walks up and down the aisles during a 17 hour flight!
Arriving in New Zealand for our connecting flight, we realized we forgot something. Most people would lose it if this happened to them. Not Lisa. She's unflappable! Thankfully, Bishop and Serita Jakes were kind enough to bring it over with them. Talk about an anointing!
After 17 hours, we were finally there...
Now THIS is how you say the word...
Checking out the Rugby League with the Hillsong crew.
Ultimately, study time before speaking to a full arena!
In the church world, leaders often believe that success is all about putting up the big numbers. But success—real success—is about much more. And all it takes is one look at Shannon O'Dell's leadership to realize that what is truly important is our commitment to follow God's call on our lives ... no matter where it leads. In Transforming Church in Rural America, Shannon confronts some of the most powerful and prominent lies about church "in the boonies". And as he shares his passion for what church is meant to be, he reminds us of the truth that God can move anywhere—even in rural America. No matter what size church you are a part of, this book will challenge your traditional thinking and force you to look beyond the status quo to grasp a bigger vision of what God has in store for your leadership!
This past weekend I did something I've never done in the history of Fellowship Church. Normally, our membership class is held after each service in another room. But heading into the weekend, I felt a strong leading to present the vision, reality and benefits of membership in the local church to everyone from the stage. The response to the weekend was amazing!
983 people filled out the membership covenant. 983 people stepped up and joined our church. 983 people committed to becoming active members in the body of Christ.
And every one of those 983 discovered that membership truly does have its privileges. And one of the greatest is realizing the truth that fellowship isn't only what a church is; it's what a church does!
